Community Wide College Internship Program To Meet Needs of Area Employers
ADA, OKLAHOMA – internAda is a community wide summer internship program organized by the Ada Jobs Foundation (AJF) for college students and is designed to help meet the needs of area employers by attracting workforce in degree programs not available locally.
internAda is being coordinated with existing internship programs hosted by the Chickasaw Nation and East Central University (ECU) Career Services. ECU will focus on “internal” internships while AJF intends to attract talent out of our service area. internAda has been promoted at OSU, OSU-IT, and OU Career Fairs geared toward science, engineering, and architecture.
“Area employers expressed that some of their employment needs are not being met,” said Sandra Stevenson, Business Coordinator for the Ada Jobs Foundation and Economic Development Director for the Stonecipher School of Business at ECU, “The internAda Summer Internship Program is intended to meet employer needs, while attracting and retaining outside talent to Ada.”
The program will kick-off at the beginning of June and last through the end of July. Interns will live in Ada and have opportunitiesto develop relationships, experience Ada's quality of life, and be mentored by seasoned professionals. In addition, interns will participate in local and Young Professionals of Ada events.
Opportunities are still available for businesses that are interested in hosting an intern this summer. If your business is interested in hosting an intern please contact Sandra Stevenson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 580-559-5920.
